Something New on Site
Just a quick post to write that I have new work on the site.
Spruce Pine: here
These were made in late May and early June (2018) while teaching at Penland in North Carolina. Each year I teach there I photograph in the early mornings in town before class, often with students. There are portfolios from 2012, 2013 and 2014 as well.
Menemsha: here
I made these in late June after returning from North Carolina. Menemsha is a small fishing village on Martha's Vineyard. Same thing: get up early, go shoot, every day.

Spruce Pine, NC 2013
The Spruce Pine, North Carolina pictures come from when I was teaching at Penland School of Crafts in April, 2013. Most mornings I would head out early to town, a few miles away, before class to first have a coffee then walk the town.

Spruce Pine, NC 2014
For three years each spring, I've taught at Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina. Each morning before class I go to the nearest town, Spruce Pine, to the coffee shop called DT's for coffee and then to photograph. Sometimes students will come, if they can get up by 6 :30 am, sometimes not. This year I was co-teaching a class with the writer Christopher Benfey but was still in town walking the streets every morning, taking pictures.
